AvaSense — AI-Driven Contract & Supplier Governance Platform

Led the 0→1 build of AvaSense — an AI-driven SaaS platform for contract and supplier governance — from concept through GA, securing 6 enterprise clients and $10M+ ARR.

Role

Senior Product Manager · Avasant

Year

2022–Present

The Problem

Enterprise procurement and legal teams were managing contract risk and supplier governance through fragmented spreadsheets, siloed systems, and manual review processes. There was no intelligent, integrated platform that could provide real-time visibility into contract obligations, supplier risk, and compliance status at scale.

My Role

I owned the full product lifecycle: vision, roadmap prioritisation, discovery, PRD authoring, and go-to-market. I personally conducted 70+ C-suite demos. The engineering team owned sprint delivery; the UX team owned visual design. I served as the bridge between client needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

Discovery & Research

Conducted 20+ structured discovery sessions with C-suite buyers and operational users across enterprise accounts. Ran shadowing sessions with procurement analysts to map existing workflows. Synthesised findings into a jobs-to-be-done framework that informed the five-module product structure. Ran a value-effort-risk prioritisation matrix across the initial backlog to sequence for early wins.

The Approach

Owned full lifecycle product leadership across five core modules: contract lifecycle management, supplier risk scoring, compliance tracking, workflow automation, and executive dashboards. Conducted extensive discovery with C-suite buyers and operational users across 20+ enterprise accounts. Ran structured prioritization using a value-effort-risk matrix to sequence the roadmap for early wins that would de-risk the platform before scaling. Conducted 70+ C-level demos directly contributing to deal wins and product expansion.

Key Decisions

01

Chose a module-based architecture over an all-in-one monolith — allowing clients to adopt incrementally, which reduced procurement friction and shortened time-to-first-value from months to weeks.

02

Prioritised contract data extraction before workflow automation — based on discovery showing that 'I can't find the right data' was a more urgent pain than 'I can't automate the process'.

03

Built RBAC and data residency controls in MVP scope rather than deferring — this was the difference between passing and failing enterprise procurement reviews.

Architecture / System Design

Designed the platform around a multi-tenant, module-based architecture that allowed enterprise customers to adopt specific modules without requiring full platform buy-in — lowering procurement friction. Established data model standards that unified contract, supplier, and compliance entities across modules, enabling cross-module intelligence. Built in audit trails, role-based access controls, and data residency configurations from day one to survive enterprise procurement reviews.

What I'd Do Differently

I'd invest earlier in a dedicated customer success feedback loop — our roadmap was heavily shaped by sales-qualified input, and we occasionally missed signal from power users in operational roles who had deeper workflow insight than the buyers we were demoing to.

Outcomes

Built AvaSense from zero to a live enterprise SaaS platform — 25+ enterprise clients onboarded, $10M+ ARR generated. Improved delivery velocity by 30% through Agile/OKR standardisation and 20+ SOPs. Reduced onboarding time by 35% through in-app guidance improvements. Led Mexico expansion with adoption workshops and executive demos.
